I am looking forward, for the fourth year, of welcoming you to Studio 53. You will be able to browse through two rooms of an eclectic mix of art.

Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya (SMV) is a non-profit institution whose vision is to be a centre for artistic and scientific learning, in keeping with holistic values.

Textile art, illustration
I create my artworks by stitching together hundreds of pieces of fabric. It’s traditional patchwork applied in a contemporary way! Most of the fabric is dyed or printed here in my studio.

Originally from the UK, I am based in Kelmscott and since becoming an Armadale Society of Artists member in 2019 I have been exploring my childhood passion for visual art.

Born in Gibraltar, I emigrated to Australia in 1994. After several years of not practicing my art, I become involved again five years ago and have started experimenting with new techniques.

Painting – acrylic and watercolour
As an artist I am drawn to nature and enjoy painting with the intention of capturing light and atmosphere where possible, my preferred mediums are acrylics and watercolour although I do enjoy the challenge of different mediums and subjects.

Australian landscape painter, plein air and studio work
Visiting Broome in 1968 inspired me for painting. Although I use all mediums, I now paint mainly Australian landscapes and the Kimberley using acrylics. The colours and atmosphere of the Kimberley are an exciting challenge to capture on canvas.

Watercolour and acrylic
In 2017, I decided to pursue my lifelong interest in visual arts. The Armadale Society of Artists workshops provided the stimulus and support to develop my skills.

Cartoonist
Apart from my time spent in the army and steel industry, I have spent most of my life drawing cartoons and illustrating. As a freelance cartoonist my work has appeared in major magazines in Australia and overseas.

Abstract art, acrylic and ink
I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. Acrylic painting both abstract & contemporary pieces. I enjoy design and I have created commission pieces allowing me to share my love of abstract art.
